In game jams I like to take the theme and use it in an unexpected way. Using the word dreamy, I spun it in the sense of a person who is dreamy. Thus I wanted a game starring a hunk that saves the day. With the limitation of being different every time, I thought the most interesting path was adding rogue-like elements to the game. These come in the form of drops from enemies and chests that boost certain stats or give new attacks. I worked on this for about a day and a half and I think it turned out pretty cool.
